Download a selection of instruments from the incredible Oberheim Matrix 6 classic analogue synthesizer free here at Logic Cafe. These instruments are designed to be used in the EXS24 and EXSP24 instruments in Logic Pro and Logic Express
The Matrix 6 synthesizer was a unique concept amongst mid 1980s synthesizers. It was born at the beginning of the digital synth age, yet retained that classic analogue sound. It did this by using DCOs (digitally controlled oscillators) which gave the machine versatile digital programming features and presets, incorporating it into legendary Oberheim analogue technology. It was basically a sized down version of the Oberheim matrix 12, but with only six voice polyphony.

The main features of the Oberheim matrix were:
- Six voice polyphony, each with:
- Two DCOs
- Low pass filter
- 2 VCA's
- 3 envelope generators
- 2 LFOs
- 2 ramp gens
- Full MIDI SysEx compatibility
- Matrix Modulation
The synth was used by artists including:
Apollo 440, Jimmy Edgar, Philip Glass, The Grid, Future Sound of London, Astral Projection, The Shamen, Mouse on Mars, Tangerine Dream, Orbital and Cirrus.
